　　金融工程硕士名称上可以叫做:Financial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Finance, Quantitative Finance或者Computational Finance等。不过所学习课程和培养的方向基本相同，下面，我们统称为金融工程。

　　由于金融工程的课程横跨了金融经济，数学，工程几个方面的知识，通常由大学的商学院、数学系和工程学院联合授课。目的在于解决实际中的问题，金融工程开设的program绝大部分为应用型的硕士学制。应用型预示着它的课程以授课形式为主，倡导学生实践，时间在一到两年。

　　金融与金融工程区别

　　金融工程是高级的金融理论和知识，因此金融工程隶属于金融学。

　　从培养的目的来看

　　金融学硕士着重培养具有处理银行、证券、投资等方面业务的基本能力;熟悉国家有关金融的方针政策和法规，了解本学科的理论前沿和发展动态的管理人员。而金融工程则培养具有数学，计算机和现代金融理论的技术人才。

　　从学习的对象来看

　　金融学更多的是以基础变量如利率\汇率\货币供应为学习对象，而金融工程主要依赖金融衍生工具,比如期货期权\远期\互换等等。

　　就业方向

　　金融工程硕士主要在投资银行工作，另外商业银行、基金公司、保险公司、会计公司、软件公司、公司财务部门也是金融工程硕士谋职的地方。现在越来越多的政府管理部门(如财政部门)、能源公司(项目评估、项目分析)也参与到了争夺金融工程硕士的行列中。

　　金融工程申请要求

　　1、专业背景及先修课要求

　　专业背景有较为明确的要求:数学、统计学、CS、物理、工程、科学是最普遍的专业背景要求，除此之后不少学校也接受金融、经济学、精算学、生物、化学和会计分析专业背景，但有个别学校不接受会计专业背景的申请者，如曼大的MSc Quantitative Finance: Risk Management和MSc Quantitative Finance: Financial Engineering。

　　先修课要求:最常见的有微积分、线性代数、概率论、概率统计、常/偏微积分方程、矩阵代数、数量统计等。个别学校还要求学生有良好的算法、编程、C++、JAVA、Matlab基础和计算机分析能力，如UCL的MS Financial Risk Management。

　　所以，大家在判断自身是否能够申请金融工程，或者判断申请成功率时，以往修过的数理课程和计算机课程的数量是一个非常重要的参考标准。

　　2、GMAT/GRE

　　美国要求提交GMAT/GRE;英国和香港的学校金工专业基本上都不要求GMAT/GRE成绩，但个别学校会建议;新加坡地区，除了国立大学的Quantitative Finance 项目外，其他要求提供GMAT/GRE成绩。

　　一般情况下，建议考取GRE，并以320+为目标。

　　3、语言成绩

　　英、港、新三个地区的学校建议考取雅思成绩，美加地区建议考取托福成绩，另外，香港方面需要注意的是，港理工和城大还接受大学英语六级成绩。

　　雅思以7.0+，托福以100+为目标。

　　4、GPA

　　GPA是一个非常重要的指标，特别是英国地区，基本上，除了个别Times排名靠前的院校外，211和985院校的学生的GPA要不低于80%，非211非985的院校的学生的GPA要不低于85%。Times排名较后的学校GPA要求稍微放宽，但总的来说GPA越高越好。

　　其他地区一般以3.0/80为最低要求。当然，也有个别低于3.0的也能拿到录取，这就要靠其他方面来弥补。

　　GPA最低3.0/80，越高越好。

　　5、实习工作经验要求

　　绝大多数学校不要求应届生有相关工作经验，但如果有相关工作经验则能为你的申请加分。
